A state-of-the-art prefabricated building system was utilised and sees structurally insulated panels made from locally sourced timber, resulting in a building that is not only sustainable but also highly efficient. Built in a workshop, located just 20km from the site, this approach allowed us to reduce waste and achieve an exceptional level of accuracy not achievable through traditional building methods.

Taking a sustainable approach, we utilised recycled hardwood sourced locally for the decking timber and structural posts. The kitchen and bathroom bench tops are made from a recycled glass product, and all soft furnishings and fabrics are made in Australia. The tapware features a living tumbled brass finish that will naturally patina over time and age beautifully, eliminating the need for replacement due to salt exposure. We have also repurposed the existing garage slab flooring, which we have polished to give it a new life. Cleverly integrated storage solutions make it possible for a family to comfortably inhabit this small space, while reducing material belongings. The building’s small footprint design has allowed us to maximize efficiency and performance, resulting in a space that is both beautiful and functional. A minimalist approach was taken aesthetically, seeing a restrained palette of crisp whites, earthy grey hues and timber veneer, creating a calm and sophisticated coastal escape.
